How do I create courses?

This article helps teaches you how to create courses on Preptical.

Creating a new course

Navigate to Courses on the Tutor menu while logged in to your Tutor account. On the right side of the screen, you can fill out the required fields for creating a new course.

  • Course title: Write a title for your course. This is the name displayed to users on the website. Limit the title to 80 characters. Make sure the title follows Preptical title requirements.
  • Course description: Describe what your course covers, who can benefit from it, what are its objectives, etc. Try to be as detailed as possible and follow Preptical description requirements.
  • Skills: What skills will you develop in this course? Add as many skills as you wish, but we recommend adding at least 5 skills to each course. These skills will be used for categorising purposes and will help users find relevant courses. To add multiple skills, hit enter after writing each skill and add another.
Skills should be specific and distinct, for example: “Listening, Reading, Time management, Vocabulary, Grammar, etc.”
  • Thumbnail: Add a thumbnail image to your course. Thumbnail should be relevant to the content of the course and should follow Preptical thumbnail requirements.

Note: All fields are required for creating a new course, and you can edit them later.

Once you have filled all the fields, click on the Create button.

Editing a course and adding lessons

Once a course is created, you should add lessons to it. Note that a course should include at least 3 lessons to become visible to users.

To add lessons, click on the edit button to open the edit page. On the left side of the screen, you can edit the course’s Thumbnail, Title, Description and Skills.

To add lessons to the course, click on the “Add Lessons” button on the top-right of the screen. This will open a popup with a list of all your published lessons. Select all of the lessons that you wish to add to the course. Use the “Remove” button to remove a lesson from the course. Use the handle to drag and drop lessons in your course and sort them as you wish.

Note: The visibility of a lesson should be set to Published before it can be added to a course.

Click on the “Save” button to save your changes.
